GLOBAL AWARENESS ACTIVITIES
SEE & TASTE BELIZE FESTIVAL
See & Taste Belize, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help build better lives for the children of Belize by improving their health, education, and living conditions through charitable projects and fundraisers. The See & Taste Belize annual festival features top artists and chefs from Belize, in addition to providing the best of Belize's entertainment. The festival is hosted at the Kovens Conference Center at the Florida International University Biscayne Bay Campus. Having the opportunity to volunteer as event support for the festival opened my eyes to the Belizean culture and traditions. This was also the first event I participated in, helping fuel my passion to study Event Management.
WOMEN WHO LEAD CONFERENCE
The Women Who Lead Conference is a two-day long conference designed to enhance the leadership development of female students at Florida International University. The conference includes a networking breakfast with community businesses and organizations, panel discussions with women leaders in business, and a keynote speaker. By volunteering in the conference, I had the opportunity to become a Women Who Lead Ambassador. Listening to the discussions and keynote speaker, I had a new view of women's role in regards to leadership. Participating in the conference built my confidence as a woman pursuing a management degree, where leadership is still possible regardless of gender.
P.A.W. REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAM
Panthers Around the World (P.A.W.) Representatives are Florida International University students who support the Office of Study Abroad in its mission to encourage and enable FIU students to study abroad. They are student representatives that share their experience and enthusiasm for study abroad with current FIU students and assist inbound exchange students with getting acquainted to the university and our country. I enjoyed being a part of this program because I had the opportunity to encourage the Study Abroad and International Exchange programs by utilizing my exchange experience as an example.
